William Hill is one of the best known “names” on the iPoker Network, and runs a very pro-active poker room. It is big on supporting UK players with a choice of lobbies available to suit the currency in which you wish to play and offering satellite tournaments towards all the GUKPT events.
Hills offer a “Double Your Money” initial deposit bonus up to £400 (just over $600) and their qualification structure to achieve the bonus is slightly easier than on some of their competitors´ sites. However, they only allow you sixty days (rather than ninety) to make the required number of player points and have different criteria if you want to withdraw it.
It may be lucrative for you to spend a fair amount of time on their site, as they offer a weekly “New Depositors” freeroll with $1.000 prize fund, an exclusive daily “Super Series” (with deep stacks, low buy-ins and added prize money) and exclusive “VIP” status freerolls – which are not too hard to qualify for.
As with all iPoker Network sites, the quality of the competition is very loose, and as most of William Hills´ clients are generated through their sports betting operation, it makes their “home” competitions easier to win. Hills also had a lot of poker players on their own poker software before moving to iPoker last year, so there is plenty of action amongst the exclusive events in the evening and most of their own events are well subscribed to.
They also have an excellent poker training school with top professional Julian Thew offering tips right through to advanced player level, and decent customer support via email and live chat.
The graphics are fairly light on your system, with a choice of avatars, backgrounds and music to choose from – the site also plays well in Flash if you do not want to download all the software onto your computer.
Not unique to Hills, but worthy of a mention is the “Jackpot” Sit ´n´ Go series, in which you can win up to $50.000 for winning a series of SnGs, as well as your regular prize money. Smaller jackpots are available for a buy-in of only $2 where you can win $2K for being victorious in four consecutive twelve player tournaments.
Hills also have excellent player reward promotions. These do not appear to difficult too difficult to attain for a regular player, and include entries to exclusive freerolls valued at $1K, $5K and $10K (depending on your points balance), free entry to headline tournaments and even William Hill sponsorship for live events.
On the balance of what Hills have to offer, it is a fair site. For long term players, it is quite realistic to aim high and be rewarded generously. Of course, they also have their sports betting side of the business plus casino, bingo, skill games, virtual racing and lotteries – so plenty to keep you occupied if you ever have to wait for a game to start.
